Lille Airport, commonly known as Lille-Lesquin or simply as Lesquin Airport, is an international aerodrome located in the French town of Lesquin, just 7 kilometers from Lille. The airport mostly serves passengers of the Nord-Pas de Calais region and is the 12th busiest aerodrome in France in terms of number of passengers.
There are flights to and from the airport throughout the year, but most flights are seasonal. Lille Airport has a compact terminal consisting of three floors. The port, which has two asphalt runways with a length of 1.580 and 2.825 meters, accommodates all types of aircraft, such as commercial and regional aircraft, turboprop engines or light and medium-sized private jets.

History of Lille Lesquin Airport
Lille Airport served as a military base in 1937 when it opened, then was used by the British Royal Air Force at the start of the World War II. In 1940, German forces occupied the airport and stationed the Luftwaffe in the port. The Luftwaffe expanded the aerodrome and runways, making improvements across the port.
During the Allied landings in Normandy, the port was recaptured from the Germans and returned to the control of the Royal Air Force. The Royal Air Force kept their fleet at Lille Airport until the end of the war. In 1947, the airport resumed commercial flights.
A new passenger terminal was built in 1963 and a dedicated air terminal was added in 1972. In 1996, the airport was modernized and a new passenger terminal with an increased capacity was put into service.

The easiest way to reach the city center from Lille Airport is to use the Shuttle services. Shuttle buses operating every day, including weekends, have a passenger capacity of 54. The buses, which reach the center in 20 minutes, operate between 05:30 and 22:00, and between 11:30 in the morning and 22:00 in the evening on Sundays and during local public holidays.
The most practical way to get to the center is to take advantage of the taxi service, as in many airports. Taxis waiting outside the arrivals terminal apply a night tariff between 22:00 and 06:00.
While there is no car rental service office in the port, there is an area where the offices of these services are located just outside the arrivals terminal. Avis, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt companies provide service here.
Passengers who want to get to the city center with their private or rented cars can reach the city center in 15 minutes by driving in the north direction via the N356 or A1 highway.
