Sierra Leone Lungi Private Jet Charter

Freetown International Airport, known locally as Lungi Airport, is the country’s only international airport, located in the coastal town of Lungi in Sierra Leone. The Sierra Leone River separates Lungi International Airport from the country’s capital Freetown.

The airport is operated by the Sierra Leone Airports Authority. Before the port was used as a civilian airport, it was a base for the British Royal Air Force. In 2012, its management was contracted to the British security and military company Westminster Aviation Security Services Ltd.

In December 2020, a $270 million expansion project was launched following parliamentary approval. The project includes a new passenger terminal, a VIP terminal for private jet passengers, taxiways and an extension of the runway. Annual capacity will be 3 million passengers. The new terminal is located on the north side of the runway, towards the eastern end.

The airport’s terminal building consists of three separate areas: General Lounge, Departing Passenger Wing and Arriving Passenger Wing. The General Lounge includes ticket counters for local transportation (buses, ferries, fast boats and taxis), postal services, a travel agency office and a restaurant. The Departures Wing has duty-free shops, restaurants and lounges for business class passengers and VIPs. The arrivals wing has a customs hall with money exchange offices, a shop, a lost and found baggage office and an information office. The airport grounds also include two banks, a police station, several restaurants, two parking lots and a mosque.
