The total size of the terminal building of the port is 1.430 m². History of Zonguldak Airport

Construction started in 1991, but due to financing difficulties the airport was only completed eight years later, in 1999. In 2002, the airport was officially closed as no aircraft movements had taken place by then. Five years later, in 2007, the airport was leased by Zonguldak Özel Sivil Havacılık Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. (ZONHAV) and reopened.

The first commercial flight to Zonguldak took place on 21 July 2009 with 148 passengers from Düsseldorf on a Boeing 737-700 chartered by Öger Tours and operated by German airline Germania with flight number ST6310. Currently, Sunexpress and Corendon Airlines fly from Germany to Zonguldak. Turkish Airlines operates domestic flights
