Malabo International Airport, also known as Santa Isabel Airport, is an airport located in Punta Europa, Bioko Island, Equatorial Guinea. The airport is located on the country’s island of Bioko, 9 km west of the capital’s city centre. Until oil was discovered within the borders of Equatorial Guinea in the mid-1990s, the airport was a small port that used a tin-lined shed as the terminal building serving international flights only, and the main user of the airport was the government.
The airport was used as a base for flights to Biafra during the Nigerian Civil War. The old airport, which could not serve most of the time, was replaced by a modern airport after it was used in the Nigerian Civil War. Malabo aerodrome is one of the two paved airports in Equatorial Guinea, so it is frequently used by private jet charter companies for flights in the region.
The airport, which is the headquarters of Guinea Ecuatorial Airlines, Cronos Airlines and CEIBA Intercontinental airline companies, is operated by Aeropuertos De Guinea Ecuatorial (ADGE). There are reciprocal flights from Malabo International Airport to Paris, the capital of France, and to cities such as Addis Ababa, Madrid, Casablanca and Frankfurt.

Transportation guide from Santa Isabel Airport to Malabo city center
There is no public transport available to get to the city center from Malabo Airport. Taxis located outside the port are used to reach Malabo. It is often quite difficult to find a taxi at the airport. Unofficial taxis are also available in the area and it is not easy to distinguish these vehicles, so it may be necessary to negotiate before boarding a taxi.
Apart from taxis, it is possible to obtain vehicles from companies that provide car rental services in the port. However, if you travel without making a pre-flight reservation, no vehicles may not be available.
