Kazakhstan Almaty Private Jet Charter

Built in 1935, Almaty International Airport is the largest airport in Kazakhstan. The aerodrome is located 15 kilometers northeast of Almaty, the country’s largest city and commercial capital. While the airport accounts for 68% of the country’s cargo transportation, it also meets half of the total passenger traffic.

Almaty International Airport was recognized as an international aerodrome in 1998 after the reconstruction of a runway. The airport is an important hub for both Kazakhstan’s national carrier Atana and Central Asia region.

Due to the country’s largest airport and its central location, private jet charter services frequently use the port for flights in the region.

History of Almaty Airport

The airport was first established in 1935 for the landing and take-off of civil and military small aircraft and served in this way for many years. It was part of the Kazakh Civil Aviation Department until 1990 and was later reorganized as “Alma-Ata Airport” in 1991. It has been operating as an independent unit since 1993. In 1994, OJSC was reorganized as “Almaty Airport” and later renamed JSC Almaty International Airport.

On December 26, 1975, emphasis was placed on transportation at the port. In November 1977, passenger transportation was added to the traffic chain created by the heavy use of the port for transportation. After a runway reconstruction in 1998, Almaty airport was given CAT II certification and international airport status.

On July 9, 1999, the main terminal building burned down as a result of an accident. After the fire, the construction of a new terminal building was brought to agenda and the construction of the new terminal building started at the end of the year. Construction of a new terminal was completed in 2004. In order to prevent the intensifying traffic with the new terminal building, a second runway was put into service in 2008.

The aerodrome, which served 6.4 million passengers in 2019, started modernization works in 2020 with a loan from the European Minister. With the construction of a new international terminal, the modernization of the domestic terminal and the adoption of IATA’s Optimum Service Level standards, the airport will be able to offer higher quality aviation services and expand its commercial space to offer greater scope.

TAV Airports undertook these renovation works with the contract made in 2021.
