Dalaman Airport is an international airport located within the borders of Dalaman district of Muğla province. Located 6 km from the city center, the airport is one of the two international airports serving the Muğla region, together with Milas-Bodrum Airport. In addition to scheduled flights, the airport is also heavily used by private jet charter services, especially in summer months. Dalaman Airport, which is not as busy as Antalya and Bodrum in terms of flight stay during the season, is the savior port in the region.
Dalaman airport is an aerodrome open to both military and civil use. There is a military base at the south end of the airport, which operates for 24 hours without ever closing, and this base serves as a backup airport. Established on a total area of 9.343.000 m², the Port has a 21588 m² international and 2594 m² domestic terminal building, a 3000 × 45 m concrete-lined runway, a 3000 × 30 m taxiway, and an apron with a 932 × 205 m capacity for 21 aircraft.

What year was Dalaman Airport founded?
Dalaman International Airport, which was started to be built in 1976, started to serve in 1981. Its transition to airport status was realized in 1983 with the decision of the board of directors.
YDA Airport Investment and Management Inc., which still holds the right to operate Dalaman Airport, has undertaken the construction of the International Terminal building, which was put out to tender on December 2, 2003 with the build-operate-transfer model, was awarded and put the airport into service on July 1, 2006. Following the commissioning of the new international terminal, the facilities that were previously used as international terminals were renovated and started to serve as domestic terminals.
YDA Group, which holds the international flights operation, submitted the highest bid (705 million Euros) in the tender opened on March 7, 2014 for the domestic flights operation, and obtained the operating rights of the airport until December 31, 2040.

Dalaman, one of the 13 districts of Muğla, is one of the most active districts of the region, especially in the summer season. Although summer vacation comes to mind when Dalaman is mentioned, there are many historical places to visit in the region. Places such as Dalaman Train Station, Ancient Blacksmiths’ Bazaar, Tlos Ancient City, Lissai and Hippokome Ancient City are among the frequent destinations of tourists.

There are regular flights from the airport to Marmaris and Fethiye centers by Havaş and MUTTAŞ. Passengers who want to reach the city centers can take advantage of the Havaş and Muttaş shuttles located at the exit of Dalaman Airport Domestic Terminal.
