Malatya Erhaç Airport, which is in the Civil and Military category, is located within the provincial borders. Located 34 kilometres north of the city centre, the airport has two runways paved with asphalt. The 7th Main Jet Base of the Combat Air Force Command is also located here.
The passenger usage area is 1598.2 m² in the domestic terminal, 641.6 m² in the international terminal, 2239.8 m² in total and 9545 m² in total. The port also has 1 VIP lounge used for private jet passengers and diplomatic visits, and civil aviation services are provided according to the determined Summer-Winter tariffs. Malatya Airport was opened for international flights in 2007.
The right to use the airport is held by the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMI) and the Air Force Command.

History of Malatya Erhac Airport
The first airport built and put into service in Malatya was in Eski Malatya, now Battalgazi, in 1941. However, the airport, which was later relocated to another location, was finally built in May 1941 in the area still in use.
In 2009, the runway of the port was extended to 3350 x 45 metres. The first use of the renovated runway took place on 23 October 2010.
Places to visit in Malatya
With more than 7000 years of history, Malatya is one of the oldest settlements in the region and is one of the most important cities in Turkey with its rich history and culture, delicious apricots and cuisine.
Among the places to visit in the region are Battalgazi Ulu Mosque in Battalgazi district known as Old Malatya, Arslantepe Ruins, where artefacts brought and exhibited from the ruins in the Arslantepe town of Orduzu district, Malatya Castle dating back to the time of the Roman Empire, Günpınar Waterfall on Tohma Creek, and Beşkonaklar and Ethnography Museum where daily items such as agricultural tools, clocks, coins, jewellery, pouches belonging to the Ottoman and Republican periods are exhibited.
How to get from Malatya Airport to the city centre?
You can reach the city centre from the airport by taxi, Havaş or rent a car.
There are taxis serving 24 hours a day at the stops in front of the harbour. It is possible to find a taxi even on busy days and the journey takes about 30 minutes. Apart from taxis, Havaş services are also available according to the landing times of the planes. Havaş vehicles reach the centre in approximately 45 minutes.
There are offices of some companies such as Enterprise and Avis within the port. Passengers who want to reach the centre by private vehicle can reach the centre via D-875 motorway.
