Al-Maktoum International Airport, located within the borders of Dubai of the United Arab Emirates, is located in Jebel Ali. Also known as Dubai World Central, the airport is located 37 km southwest of Dubai city center and is one of the main parts of Dubai World Central.
Expected to be fully completed in 2027, Al Maktoum Airport will cover an area of 14.000 hectares (35.000 acres). The airport has an estimated annual cargo capacity of 12 million tons and a passenger capacity of 160 million to 260 million. As of May 2019, only a few airlines provide passenger service from Al Maktoum International Airport. The airport, together with Dubai Airport, is one of the ports that provides the busiest service to private jet charter services in the region.
Dubai Al Maktoum International Airport has three terminals serving aeroplanes of all sizes. It also has a luxury terminal serving Emirates Airlines and a separate facility to serve all Private Aircrafts and General Aviation.

Brief history of Dubai Al Maktoum Airport
Al Maktoum International Airport, the project of which was started in 2006, started to operate on June 27, 2010 with a single runway and only cargo flights. The first flight to the airport took place on June 20th. The flight served as a test for various functions such as air traffic control, ground movement of aircraft, and security. According to Emirates, the flight was a “continuous success”.
On February 24, 2011, it was confirmed that the airport can handle passenger aircraft of up to 60 passengers. The first passenger plane that landed was an Airbus A319CJ on February 28, 2011. The airport was officially opened to passenger flights on October 26, 2013 with Nas Air and Wizz Air as two carriers to operate from the airport.
In the first quarter of 2014, 102.000 passengers passed through the airport. During the opening, three cargo service airlines served Al Maktoum International Airport, including RUS Aviation, Skyline Air and Aerospace Consortium. Fifteen additional airlines have signed a contract to operate flights to the airport.
The number of passengers, which was 209.989 in the first half of 2015, reached 410.278 in the first half of 2016. In mid-2019, work at Al Maktoum aerodrome was suspended due to the faltering economies of the Gulf Countries, and some projects of the port were temporarily suspended.

The fastest way to reach Dubai City from Al Maktoum Airport
Express buses are one of the easiest ways to reach the city center. Buses numbered F55 serve between 06:00 and 22:00. After a 40-minute journey on the F55 line, you reach Ibn Battuta Metro Station, from where it is possible to reach many points of Dubai by taxi or metro. Between 23:00 and 06:00, F55A express buses serve on the same route. Buses depart from the airport hourly.
Another alternative for passengers who want to go directly from the airport to the center of Dubai is the taxis located outside the airport. This is the fastest method of transportation. What is noteworthy to pay attention here are the Taxi colors. While the gray colored taxis directly serve male passengers, pink colored taxis with female drivers serve women and families, and located outside the port. The Uber app does not work outside the Airport.
It is possible to rent a car with the kiosks available inside the Al Maktoum Airport. Companies such as Dollar, Thrift, W&B Rent a Car and Hertz are among the options.
Passengers who want to reach Dubai Emirate by private car can reach the center after a 50-minute journey via Sheikh Zayed Rd/E11 Highway or Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Rd/E311.
