Located in Altıntaş district of Kutahya, Zafer International Airport is Turkey’s first regional airport, serving the provinces of Kutahya, Afyonkarahisar and Usak. It is the fourth largest airport in Turkey as of its opening date.
Although there are different airports in the region; Usak Airport could not reach the expected passenger capacity, Eskişehir Anadolu Airport lost its attractiveness due to the high speed train services, it was built to provide easy access to expatriate citizens mostly in Europe such as Germany and Belgium, to reduce the density especially in Istanbul during the pilgrimage season, and to attract foreign tourists to the thermal facilities in Kutahya and Afyon.
Zafer Airport has CAT II qualifications according to the classification made by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The airport has a total indoor area of 27,000 m² and sits on 910 acres. The total size of the airport’s terminal building is 17,600 m².
