Mayotte Pamandzi Private Jet Charter

Officially called Marcel Henry International Airport, it is the main airport of Mayotte and is located in the commune of Pamandzi, near Dzaoudzi (Petite-Terre). The relatively short 1,930 m runway does not allow full load movement of most large aircraft (A330-200, 747, A350). The presence of coral reefs, which need to be protected, complicates any expansion of the airport.

Mayotte’s only airport plays a very important role in traffic. It is the main base for EWA Air and is also used by other scheduled airlines. There are direct flights to cities such as Paris, Marseille and Lyon, as well as connections to mainland Africa and neighboring islands. The airport is a port with no alternative for private jet flights to the region.

History of Pamandzi Airport

On August 8, 1977, the first commercial flight to Dzaoudzi was operated by Réunion Air Service (now Air Austral) with a Hawker Siddeley HS.7481. Between August 1977 and the end of December 1977, 1,468 passengers were carried. In comparison, 100,000 passengers travel every year on the current Réunion-Mayotte line.

Since the end of 2021 – beginning of 2022, the airport is experiencing a new era, notably with the return of the airline Corsair International and the establishment by Ewa Air of two connections linking the two Réunion airports (Saint-Denis and Saint-Pierre).

The airport was renamed Marcel-Henry International Airport after the former Mauritanian senator passed away on August 30, 20212. Marcel-Henry was senator from 1977 to 2004 and was adamant that Mayotte remain a French territory. Dzaoudzi-Pamandzi Airport was officially named Mayotte – Marcel Henry Airport on March 29, 2022 by order of the Ministry of Ecological Transition, after consultation by the Departmental Council.
