Venice Marco Polo Private Jet Charter

Venice Marco Polo Airport, the 5th busiest port in Italy, is located near the village of Tessera, 7,6 km east of the town of Mestere. Due to the importance of Venice as an entertainment destination, the airport offers long distance flights, partly seasonal, to the United States, Canada, South Korea and the Middle East, as well as flights to many European countries.

The airport is named after the Italian traveler Marco Polo (1254-1325) and serves as a base for Volotea, Ryanair, Wizz Air and easyJet. The airport terminal has three floors: the ground floor is used for arriving passengers, and the second floor is used for departing passengers. On the third floor of the terminal, there are offices for the operating company and airlines. On the third floor, a special section is reserved for private jet passengers, providing access to meeting rooms and VIP lounges.

The aerodrome is managed by SAVE SpA, a company that is partially owned by the local authorities and also controls the smaller Treviso Airport and is primarily dedicated to low-cost carriers.

The construction of the airport started in 1958 and it was officially put into service in 1961. After the port was established, minor modernization works were carried out and the terminal building, which is still used today, was built in 2002.

Venice, the city of love, famous for its canals, gondolas, historical buildings, narrow streets, fascinating traces of Renaissance and Byzantine architecture. Venice, the city that attracts millions of tourists to Italy every year, is one of the richest cities in Europe in terms of places to visit.

Of course, the water channels that come to mind first when Venice is mentioned are at the top of the list. So, what are the other places to visit in the city?

St. Mark’s Square (Piazza San Marco), dating back to the 9th century, which has been seen in many movies and documentaries, is the most lively spot of the city, St. Mark’s Basilica (Basilica di San Marco), which gives its name to the famous square, the Palace of the Dukes (Palazzo Ducale), which draws attention with its architecture, Rialto Bridge (Ponte di Rialto), which has become the symbol of the city, St. Mark’s Bell Tower (Campanile di San Marco), which breaks records with its annual visitor rate, Bridge of Sighs (Ponte dei Sospiri), which proves how interesting even the smallest detail can be, Murano Island, which is famous for its glass arts, Frari Santa Maria Gloriosa Basilica, which was started to be built in the 13th century and could only be completed in 100 years, and San Giorgio Maggiore, which is always flooded by visitors, are among the top locations to visit in the city.

Venice transportation guide

Buses are generally used to reach the city center from the airport. There are 2 bus lines departing from the port; one of them is ACTV’s line 5 and the other is ATVO’s Express bus no 35. Line 5 operates between 04:00 and 01:00, 7 days a week and the journey takes about 25 minutes. Line 35 serves between 04:30 and 23:30, and the journey time is the same as Line 5.

An alternative transportation system that is not available in almost any part of the world is the water taxis. It is possible to reach the center of the city, which is famous for its water channels, by water taxis located near the airport. Likewise, water buses called Alilaguna provide transportation to the city center via canals.

It is also possible to reach the city by train, but for this, you need to reach the Mestre train station by buses operated by ACTV. There are direct train services to Venice from here.
