Hakkari Yuksekova Selahaddin Eyyubi Airport is an important airport serving Hakkari province and is located in Yuksekova district. The airport, which took five years to build and opened in 2015 with a two-year delay, is named after the Muslim leader Saladin Ayyubi. This airport, which was completed with a total expenditure of 102 million TL, makes a significant contribution to private jet traffic in the region.
The airport, which was closed on August 4, 2015 due to problems in the region, reopened in September 2016 after test flights in July 2016. The airport has a 3,200 m × 45 m runway, a 228 m × 120 m airport apron, a 265 m × 24 m taxiway and a 6,600 m² terminal building. A 9.3 km long road surrounds the facility. The airport is designed with an annual passenger traffic volume of 1 million passengers.

History of Hakkari Airport
Construction of the airport started on July 18, 2010. The airport opened to public/civilian air traffic on May 26, 2015. During the opening ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu, it was announced that the airport was renamed Hakkari-Yuksekova Saladin Eyyubi Airport after the Muslim leader Saladin Eyyubi (1137/1138-1193) who fought against the Crusaders and captured Jerusalem. The airport is 5 km from Yuksekova district center.
