Milas-Bodrum Airport, also known as Bodrum Aerodrome, is an international gateway located 35 kilometers to the northeast from Bodrum town centre. It is frequently used by private plane charter services as well as the airport scheduled flights, the density of which increases especially in the summer months. Bodrum Airport, which is one of the busiest ports in the region during the summer season, is frequently preferred for private jet flights, scheduled flights, group charter flights and flight stays. Private jet customers who want to stay the plane or get a landing and take-off permit at the desired time due to the slot applications applied by DGCA during the summer months should plan their flights as far in advance as possible.
Muğla Milas-Bodrum Airport, which was originally planned to be located closer to the sea, was built at its present location as a result of the evaluation of environmental impacts. Bodrum flights first started in 1998 after the opening of a domestic terminal. At that time, the same terminal also served international flights until the construction of a new international terminal was completed in 2012.

History of Milas Bodrum Airport
The Bodrum-İmsık Airport, put into service towards the end of the 1980s, had a short runway that only small-capacity aircraft could use due to geographical conditions. For this reason, the construction of a new airport became mandatory for flights to touristic destinations in and around Bodrum.
Although the foundation was laid in August 1994, a new tender was held in August 1995 so that the unfinished construction could be completed, as the company that received the tender could not complete the work on time. In April 1997, the airport was inaugurated with the domestic flights service building, which would later be demolished. Due to the potential of the airport and its contribution to the surrounding tourism centers, it was decided to go for renovation work in a short time. Milas Bodrum Airport became one of the most important airports in Turkey with the construction of the international terminal, which was built in 1998 for the 75th anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic and is still in use.
Due to the inability of the domestic and international terminal buildings to respond to the increasing passenger traffic, a new international terminal building with an annual capacity of 5.000.000 passengers and a closed area of 95.683 m², according to the build-operate-transfer model, started to serve as of May 16, 2012.
TAV (Tepe Akfen Vie) Airports Holding, which submitted the best bid with 717 million Euros + VAT in the tender held in March 2014, obtained the operating rights of Milas-Bodrum Airport until the end of 2035. TAV began operations at the domestic terminal in July 2014. The company took over the international terminal on October 22, 2015.
