Opened in 1998, Tekirdag Corlu Atatürk Airport is the only airport in the Thrace region of Turkey that actively carries passengers. Located 15 kilometres from the district centre, it is situated to the east of Çorlu.
Used for civil and military purposes, the airport has a terminal with a capacity of 1,000,000 passengers per year and an asphalt runway equipped with an instrument landing system (ILS). Çorlu Airport can accommodate eleven commercial aircraft. In 2019, after Istanbul-Atatürk Airport was closed to air traffic, the small airport was renamed “Atatürk” by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The port, where training flights take place, is the only alternative for private jet passengers travelling to the region for business purposes.

Places to visit in Tekirdag
The province of Tekirdag is located on the northern coast of the Sea of Marmara and is an important commercial port. Sandy beaches stretch on both sides of the province. A cheerful mixture of sunflowers and vineyards covers the whole environment. The most important architectural monument of the province is the Rüstem Pasha Mosque, the work of Mimar Sinan, built in 1554 by the Grand Vizier of Suleiman the Magnificent. The Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography exhibits a large collection. Rakoczy Museum is the house where the Hungarian Prince Rakoczy Ferench II spent his last years and fought for the freedom of his nation.
The Namık Kemal Monument (1840 – 1888) adorns the poet’s birthplace. The holiday centres of Şarköy and Mürefte, famous for their delicious wines, are located 60 km. west of Tekirdağ province. This region is covered with beautiful vineyards and also hosts a traditional wine festival every year.
Transportation from Çorlu Airport to the city centre
It is possible to use taxi, bus and passenger shuttles to get from Çorlu airport to the centre.
The easiest way to reach the centre is to use taxis as in many airports. Taxis are available 24 hours a day in front of the port and arrive at the city centre within 15 minutes. It takes 20 minutes to reach the centre by buses departing every 30 minutes from the bus stops located at the points where the taxis are located.
