Almer\u00eda-Antonio de Torres International Airport is a Spanish airport located in the Andalusian Autonomous Community, southeast of Spain. The airport is close to the main tourist attractions of the state, such as Almer\u00eda, Cabo de Gata-N\u00edjar natural park, El Ejido, Moj\u00e1car, Almerimar, Roquetas de Mar, Vera. History of Almer\u00eda-Antonio de Torres International Airport<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Before the construction of the Almeria aerodrome, the nearest airport was located in Tabernas, which was opened in 1932 and was abandoned after the Spanish Civil War due to lack of fixed facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Already in the 1950s it was demanded by the people of Almeria as an outlet for early agricultural production, and at the beginning of 1966 its construction began thanks to the General Airports Plan. The first aircraft to land was carrying Air Minister Jos\u00e9 Lacalle, but the port was officially opened on February 6, 1968. The inauguration was held on this occasion by the mayor of the city, Guillermo Verdejo Vivas, and the national authorities.
