The special history of Vagar Airport<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The aerodrome was built on the island of Vagar during the World War II by the British Royal Engineers. After the war, Vagar airport was abandoned and not used until 1963, when it was reopened as a civilian airport on the initiative of two S\u00f8rv\u00e1gur residents, Hugo Fj\u00f8r\u00f0oy and Lars Larsen.
